At The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis, Executive Director Dr. Shannon Filosa and Medical Director and Chief of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery, Dr. Hisashi Nikaidoh are dedicated to building a world-class pediatric cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery program.
The Lauren Elise Memorial Foundation has met with these individuals personally, as well as with members of the Children's Hospital Foundation at Saint Francis, and will be working hand in hand with them to issue grants specifically in support of this endeavor.

The Children's Heart Foundation was founded by parents who lost their 8 year old son suddenly to complications of CHD. They now have chapters nationwide, with a goal to bring health, hope and happiness to children impacted by CHD. The CHF accomplishes this goal by funding the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of congenital heart defects.
CHF is the only organization created to exclusively fund congenital heart defect research, and has already directed $4.7 million to various research projects, across the US and Canada.
The Lauren Elise Memorial Foundation will be working with CHF and assisting them by making grants to help fund specific CHD research projects.
